Sustainability

At Wraptite we recognise the role that we in the packaging industry must play in the protection of our planet, and we are committed to the development and supply of sustainable packaging solutions.

We are constantly working to improve our own performance in terms of sustainability and carbon reduction and we are actively working to help our customers achieve the same goals.

Calculation of our Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Together with ClimatePartner, we have measured the carbon emissions that occur during the manufacture of EcoWrap and Eco Mini Reels and throughout their life cycle, from raw materials, production, packaging, logistics, through to waste disposal: this is known as the Product Carbon Footprint. All emissions are calculated in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard (GHG Protocol) and follows a ‘cradle-to-customer plus waste’ process.

Avoidance and Reduction

We are actively taking steps to reduce our CO2 emissions. We work hard to minimise the waste we generate during production and wherever possible repurpose and re-use materials.

  • Core Recovery Programme: Working to the principles of the circular economy we strive to keep products and materials in use wherever possible. With our Core Recovery Programme, we work with our customers to collect the cardboard cores from their used rolls of Wraptite pallet wrap. These cores are returned to the factory where they are quality checked and then reentered into the production process.
  • Community Recycling: We are proud partners of Fingal Country Council and are happy to use our own facilities to expand and supplement the recycling services on offer to our local community

Carbon Offset through a Certified Project

Wraptite are proud to support a fossil fuel reduction programme in Soacha, Colombia. It contributes to three UN Sustainable Development Goals

  • Affordable and Clean Energy
  • Decent Work and Economic Growth
  • Climate Action

It is a Gold Standard VER offset project, and is  certified by two independent agencies, TUV Rheinland and Earthood Services Private Ltd.

Carbon Emissions Offset

Along with avoidance and reduction, the offset of carbon emissions is a crucial step in climate action. Carbon offset projects help to remove or prevent greenhouse gases from staying in/or entering the atmosphere.  To obtain certification, projects must meet the following criteria:

  • Additionality
  • Exclusion of double counting
  • Permanence
  • Regular verification by an independent third party.

By investing in internationally verified carbon offset projects, we are taking an  active part in the fight against global warming and also promoting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),

Carbon Neutral on Request

Our EcoWrap and Eco Mini Reel products are carbon neutral on request. How exactly does this work?

You can choose a carbon neutral version of our products. This means that we calculate our carbon emissions and offset them via a carbon offset project. By doing so, you will receive the unique label stating “carbon neutral” to label your products. This will provide transparency to your customers of your carbon neutrality. The ID and tracking URL on the label allow your customers to view the emissions, the offset amount and the carbon offset project itself.

The carbon offset projects are certified according to international standards and demonstrably save on carbon emissions. Additional security is guaranteed by ClimatePartner’s TÜV-Austria-certified process for carbon offsetting.
